Open Kada

Gold bangle-like kadas are traditionally worn by Indian women to symbolise beauty and bring good luck to them, particularly in their married life. They are considered to be one of the important parts of the sixteen adornments of a bride called Solah-Shringar. The fish symbol (Matsya) in Indian jewellery is a symbol of prosperity and according to Hindu mythology is associated with Lord Vishnu.

This open kada with fish symbols is over 100 years old and not meant to be off the wrist of the women of the family. It is made out of solid gold and is typical of the Punjabi style of jewellery made during undivided India.
