Worship of the Tulsi Plant

Tulsi, also known as Vrinda, is a sacred plant for Hindus because it is regarded as a manifestation of the goddess Tulsi. It represents a threshold point between Heaven and Earth. A person who worships the Tulsi plant is said to gain salvation or Moksha. A festival known as 'Tulsi Vivah' is performed by Hindus in order to celebrate the wedding of the Tulsi plant to Lord Vishnu. The plant is usually placed in the courtyard of a Hindu home and a diya is lit on a daily basis in front of it as a prayer.
