Bharwan Karela

Karela, known as Bitter Gourd in English, is a popularly used vegetable in Indian recipes. Bharwan Karela is a dish consisting of Bitter Gourd with a stuffing. This dish is very popular in Northern India, especially in the region of Kanpur. It is made with bitter gourd, onions, garlic, ginger, turmeric powder, mustard oil and various spices.

This recipe has been with the family for over 100 years. It was passed down to each generation in the family's house in Kanpur.
