Kansa Dessert Bowls

Kansa, the Indian name for bell metal, is a hard alloy. It is usually in the form of bronze, with a ratio of 4:1 of copper and tin respectively. Kansa is often used to make utensils. It is believed that meals using Kansa purifies the food and enhances the immunity of a person. Kansa was very popular in the olden days as it is a good conductor and retainer of heat, keeping the food warm for a longer period of time. Kansa has been replaced by steel and aluminium in recent times.

This Kansa dessert bowl has been passed down for 3 generations within the family and has been with the family for over 150 years. It is a part of a set of 12.
