Hookah

The Hookah, also known as shisha, is a water pipe that is used to smoke tobacco mixtures in various flavours. Hookahs became very popular in medieval India, around the time of the Mughal reign. It is believed that Abu'I-Fath Gilani, a Persian physician of the 3rd Mughal Emperor, Akbar, invented the hookah as a recreational activity. The hookah was first made in the city Fatehpur Sikri by Abu'I-Fath and was modified to its current shape in Persia. This is a working hookah made of silver with filigree and intricate carvings. It has been with the family for over 75 years.
