Ransingha, a musical instrument

The etymology of this curved aero-phonic instrument is composed of two words, ran (battlefield) and singha or seenga (the curved horn). Made from copper or brass, this instrument was used in the battlefield in the past and can presently be seen in most celebrations in the Uttarakhand region. Measuring 24 inches, the instrument is made of two metal curves, joined together to form an "S" shape.
