Brass Utensils

The brass utensils belonged to the contributor’s great grandmother (maternal) Durga Moni Saha, and were gifted to her during her wedding in 1935. These utensils were later passed to the contributor’s grandmother during her wedding event ‘aiburobhaat’, the ceremony which celebrates the final meal of a bachelor at their own place. Each utensil has its own function: one for rice, one for fried items, one for sweets and fruits, one bowl for daal, one bowl for fish curry, one for paan (heart shaped), and a glass for water. Moreover, each item is served and presented in a specific way.
