Hurka (PART 2)
The playing surface is made of parchment from the cured stomach lining of a goat/lamb, whereas the curved area, constituting 90% of the drum, is made from the wood of the local Khin tree (Vern. name: Khindri, Family: Euphorbiaceae). The poodi on the top and the bottom of the Hurka is tied with strings, which when pulled, give out distinctive tones.
