Ombodu Gajam (South Indian Nine Yards Saree)

The ombodu gajam, also known as Madisar, is a nine yards saree of either cotton or silk or both. It is traditionally worn by married Tamil Brahmin women for important festivals and rituals. The draping is done in a very unique pant-like style. The ombodu gajam saree is most notably worn by the Tamil Brahmin bride on her wedding day.

The contributor's saree is a blue silk nine yards saree with a red border.
