Description
Ziro valley is situated at a height of approximately 1,524 meters above sea level. The valley, also known as Apatani valley, falls under the Sub-Himalayas climatic zone and covers an area of 1058 sq. km. The major rivers of the valley are Khree, Panior, Kime, Ranga, and Pange as a result of which it has one of the most fertile lands amongst its neighbouring tribal areas. There is a unique settlement system and relationship that is witnessed between man and nature at Ziro valley, which enabled its shortlisting for inclusion in the tentative list for nomination to UNESCO (for inscription), in the World Heritage Site list, in the year 2014.
