Description
The Ganga is widely known for two factors globally. The first is its holy status that epitomizes the river as a holy goddess. In the sphere of Hindu mythology, the river goddess can rid the followers of their sins and retributions by a simple ritual of the holy bath. The second reason for the popularity, however, is not so glorious. The river hosts a wide population of pollutants like plastic bottles, wrappers, and other waste material. More than everyday waste, the river also finds high concentrates of human waste and industrial contaminants. The river Ganga also takes a top position around the world as one of the most polluted rivers.
