The Bhardwaj Ashram in Prayagraj (Allahabad) is an important site in Hindu culture. The local connect revolves around the story of Lord Rama, the main character in the Hindu epic Ramayana, and his exile from Ayodhya. It is believed that Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshman, on their way to do penance in the forest, stayed in this ashram of Maharishi Bhardwaj for three nights before proceeding towards Chitrakoot.
