Shiva linga

Allahabad (Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh

Description
One of the most revered deities in Hinduism is Lord Shiva, with the linga, a popular abstract symbol, worshipped as an iconographic representation of Him. The common rituals include showering the linga with flowers and milk; offering incense as a marker of rising to heaven. The linga is also always adorned with the tripundra (the three marks), to denote the threefold power of knowledge, will, and action held by Lord Shiva. However, it can also be used to symbolize the holy triad of Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma.
