The film ‘Jayatu Simhasta’ by the INTACH Dhar Chapter, with the support of the ICH Division, INTACH, captures the celebration of the Mahakumbh in Ujjain (2016), which takes place every twelve years on the banks of the river Kshipra. All the 13 Akharas, Naga-sadhus, saints, and lakhs of devotees participate in this spiritual event. The text, Khulasatu-e-Tawarikh, written in Persian by Sujan Rai Bhandari in 1695, mentions this event in Ujjain. Directed by INTACH Convener, Dhar, Dr. Deependra Sharma, the film providesvaluableresearch and information on the origins, mythology, cultural and social aspects of the Simhasta in Ujjain.
