Region/City;Andhra tribes

Description
Jeerigi Kallu is a precious drink for the Konda Dora of Karaka Puttu village. It is extracted from the Jeerigi Chattu tree, with the extraction process being similar to that of Toddy. A pot is kept at the upper end of the tree in order to collect the substance that the tree oozes from the cut made with a knife. The pot is slung on the tree for the night. Every morning it is brought down, the liquid emptied from it, and it is returned to the tree in readiness for the next day. The utensils used for the drink are specially made up of dried gourd in different sizes. These are named according to their sizes; the big one in which the drink is served is called jeerigi dippa. The small one is doki burra, used to consume the Jeerigi drink.
