Conference session in progress during the national conference. Key objectives of the conference were to gain a better understanding of the notion of belonging in the framework of a distinctive set of cultural and spiritual belief in Himalayan regions, to bring a framework for promoting and developing communities by identifying loss of language, indigenous knowledge, performing arts and oral traditions, and exploring ways of safeguarding them. The conference also aimed at exploring issues related to tribal rights, forest produce, employment generation through traditional creative occupation, and the use of resources for sustainable development. It sought to educate and sensitize youth about their cultural legacy.
