Description
Khusro Bagh is an architectural marvel of the city of Prayagraj (Allahabad). It is a walled garden that encapsulates the monument that serves as the tomb to the eldest son of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. The main architect for the massive site is known to be Aqa Reza. Within the entire structure, three sandstone mausoleums can be found. The first tomb is an exquisite three tier structure that houses Shah Begum, Jahangir's wife. The second structure is made on a platform and commemorates the sister of Khusrau Mirza, Nithar. This tomb is the most elaborate of the three in terms of architecture. The last tomb is home to Khusrao Mirza himself. The tomb hosts of quintessential Islamic architectural features like the stone jaalis. The site marks one of the many jewels of Mughal architecture in India. It is also listed as an Indian Site of National Importance.
