Persian influenced Jewellery
Listing of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Lucknow
Description
A jhumar or chapka is an ornament for the head; a Persian influence, worn while performing Kathak. This is a fan-shaped piece of jewellery, which rests flat on the hair. The apex of the triangle lies near the parting and the delicate jewelled 'ribs' of the fan shape radiate forwards to rest flat on one side of the head.
